2.1.1 When the world knows beauty as beautiful,
this is already ugly.
2.1.2 When the world knows good as good,
this is already not good.
2.2.1 So, Being (and) nothingness give mutual birth.
Difficult (and) easy turn into each other.
2.2.2 Long (and) short form each other.
High (and) low fill each other.
2.2.3 Voice (and) sound correspond to each other.
Before (and) after follow each other.
2.3.1 This is why the sage stays in letting go in his office duties,
(and by such) acts teaches speechlessly.
2.3.2 (Then) all things function without declining (Tao).
Do (things) but (do) not presume (as the doer).

Succeed but (do) not dwell (on the achievement).
2.3.3 Oh! Only (when) not dwelling (on it),
this is why (it) does not go.
