66.1.1 The reason why rivers and seas are (regarded as) kings of the many valley streams,
66.1.2 is because they are capable of being lower than the many valley streams.
66.1.3 This is why (they) are capable of being kings of the many valley streams.
66.2.1 For the sage to lead (his) people,
(he) must be behind them in body.
To be above (his) people,
(he) must speak (of himself) to be below them.
66.2.2 He is on top of (his) people but (his) people do not think highly (of him).
He leads (his) people but (his) people (feel) no harm.
66.2.3 This is why all the world is happy to push (him to the lead) and not fed up (with him).
66.3 As he (is) not striving,
so no one in the world can strive with him.
