Chapter Two

天地萬物之盜,萬物人之盜,人萬物之盜。 |
Heaven-and-Earth (is from where)
all things (in creation) steals; All things
(in creation is from which) man steals;
(And) man (is from which) all
things (in creation) steals. Note

| 2.1.2 |
三盜既宜,三才既安。 |
As
the three stealing is appropriate, so the three talented
(beings are at) peace. |
| 2.1.3 |
故曰食其時,百骸理;動其機,萬化安。 |
So (it is) said that eat
(and act) at its (proper)
timing, (then) hundred skeletons
(are) orderly; Launch at its (proper) opportunity,
(then) myriad manifestation (are) at
peace. |

| 2.2.1 |
人知其神而神,不知不神而所以神也。 |
Man know its spirit to be
spiritual (and wakeful), (and on the
contrary) not knowing not spiritual and so
(still) wakeful. |
| 2.2.2 |
日月有數,大小有定。 |
The sun (and) moon have
numerological (factors), (that)
have (their changes
to) big (and) small
fixed, |
|
聖功生焉,神明出焉。 |
(and in between these cycles of changes,)
sacred achievements is born, (and)
spiritual brilliance arises. |
| 2.2.3 |
其盜機也,天下莫能見、莫能知。 |
This stealing (is based on being
wakeful to) the triggering
mechanism, (but) none
in the world can see, (and) none can know
(it). |

君子得之固躬,小人得之輕命。 |
(If) the gentlemen got it, (he will)
be firm in bowing (to the Way of Heaven). (But if)
the petty man got it, (he) slights
(Heaven's) order and (his)
life. |
