Shaaban, who moved to Highbury from Djurgardens in September, performed solidly but insisted he still had plenty to work on.

"It felt good to make an early interception, and overall I was feeling calmer today than before.

"I think I was a bit up and down though.

"The goal-kicks did not work at all that well but the play with my feet on back-passes worked better."

The 27-year-old remains unsure of his future in the Arsenal team with veteran David Seaman nearing full fitness.

"I take it one day at a time. We have three keepers competing for one place but it's fun that it has gone well."
