Swedes Set England Date

SWEDEN have set up an international friendly against England on March 31 next year to commemorate the centenary year of the Swedish FA.

While the SvFF were able to confirm the match between the sides, they were unable to announce the venue of the clash.

The Three Lions have met their Scandinavian neighbours on two occasions recently with both matches ending in a 1-1 draw.

Last June the teams faced each other in their opening World Cup fixtures, and just seven months before, the sides squared up at Old Trafford.

"During the FA centenary celebrations in 2004, we will play several celebration internationals," said SvFF general secretary Sune Hellstromer to Sportbladet.

"The 31st of March, we will face England at a stadium somewhere in Sweden. To take part in a match like this will be just terrific."

Should both teams reach Euro 2004 and be paired alongside each other in the tournament, then the centenary friendly will be cancelled.
