Niclas Alexandersson has revealed that he is suffering from a knee injury that shows no signs of improving.
The Swedish star was omitted from the matchday squad for Sunday's memorable victory over Leeds United because of the problem that could keep him out for up to a fortnight.
Alexandersson has recently admitted his frustrations at not been handed a bigger role this season squad, though has stressed that there is no problem between himself and David Moyes.
"I've never said anything," Alexandersson told Swedish newspaper Expressen. "I have a problem with the back of my knee. It's been bothering me for four weeks now and it's getting worse and worse,"
"I've tried to play before but haven't been able to play at full pace. The doctors don't know for certain what's wrong. I'll have treatment and then we'll see."
Alexandersson is desperate to play regular first team football for the Blues so he can keep his place in Sweden's side for the Euro 2004 qualifying campaign.
