Anders Still Hopeful
Anders Svensson has still not given up hope of making Sunday's sell-out FA Cup quarter-final at home to Wolves.
The Swede is a doubt after limping out of the 1-0 win over West Brom with an ankle injury following a tackle with Sean Gregan.
With Rory Delap injured and David Prutton cup-tied, it would leave Saints short in midfield but Svensson still hopes to recover in time.
He is undergoing intensive treatment in a bid to be fit and said: "I am still hoping to be able to play.
"My foot stuck under his body and I twisted my ankle. And it is quite swollen but there is no ligament damage so it is quite lucky really.
"It did not look good on Saturday after the game. It felt really painful and I thought I might be out for a while.
"But it is looking a lot better now. It could have been a lot worse and I just hope it eases in time for Sunday.
"I would love to play in that one - everyone here is looking forward to it.
"The FA Cup has always been really special to me. I used to watch it on television when I was growing up in Sweden and it is a wonderful competition.
"There is a big chance for the winners of this tie to get to the final and Wolves will be thinking exactly the same way.
"They will make it tough for us because they are playing well right now. We have not been at our best and we will need to perform a lot better than we did against West Brom if we are to win the game."
