CHELSEA have handed a trial to Swedish starlet Martin Bengtsson. The 16-year-old Orebro midfielder will train with The Blues for seven days starting next week.
The teenager is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in his homeland and his agent Patrick Englund confirmed the news to planetfootball.com.
"He is going there next week and will have a good look around," Englund stated.
"A host of clubs from around Europe are looking at Martin, but because of school and international games he does not have much time to visit teams.
"Chelsea do not have first option on him, they offered him the best option to come and train.
"However, they obviously do have the chance to try and impress Martin when he is there."
Bengtsson himself has described his pleasure at the forthcoming trial, admitting that The Blues are the team he has supported since he was young.
"It is exciting," he said.
"Chelsea was actually my favourite club as a child. But I don't know much more, yet."
