Swede wants to avoid hosts

Markus Rosenberg feels Sweden can have a positive World Cup, if they avoid hosts Germany in the second round. The Swedes are drawn in a first round group alongside England, Paraguay and first-time qualifiers Trinidad & Tobago.

Ajax striker Rosenberg is thankful Sweden will meet England in the group phase and is also happy it will be the last match of the section. But Rosenberg is anxious for Sweden to pip The Three Lions to top spot in Group B in the hope of swerving a second round clash with Germany.

"It's better to have England at the beginning," Rosenberg told Sky Sports.

"All the games are hard, of course, but I think it's good to play a team like England.

"Maybe both teams can be through already or maybe have a draw and both teams can go through.

"I think if we come first in our group and don't get Germany, we can go pretty far.

"We'll see. It's always hard in the World Cup, of course."

Rosenberg also praised the influence of Henrik Larsson on the Swedish squad and is delighted to receive the help of the veteran striker.

He added: "He (Larsson) talks to us all the time on the field. He is unbelievable. He can play so good and talk so much also.

"He's always telling us what to do, talking to us where he is, what to do and he's a very, very good player." 1
