Rami Helps with Community Project
Goalkeeper Rami Shaaban lent a helping hand when Arsenal's Football in the Community department continued their globe-trotting work in Egypt last month.
Head of department Alan Sefton and coach Ross Miglio travelled out to Cairo to help with the launch of the Wadi Degla Children's Football Club.
The pair's brief was to lead a training programme for the club's coaches. They spent a week putting them through their paces then Miglio stayed on to see how the new recruits got on when the youngsters started their nine-week course at the club.
Shaaban was back in his native Egypt so he stopped off to meet the children and coaches. He signed autographs and conducted a question and answer session with the youngsters.
"Rami was terrific in representing Arsenal Football Club," said Sefton. "It gave the course a little bit of extra spice when he arrived. He was great with the kids and they knew all about him and Arsenal."
Along with their work in and around Islington, Arsenal's Football in the Community department have previously been to the Ukraine, South Africa, Nigeria, Israel and Cyprus. Now Egypt can be added to that list.
"Hopefully this is the beginning of a productive relationship between Arsenal and the Wadi Degla Club," concluded Sefton.
