ANDERS SVENSSON has said that he does not mind playing on the left-hand side of midfield, provided his Southampton team-mates continue to give him the ball. The Swede has failed to return to his favoured central role since missing the game with Arsenal due to injury, but he does not seem too distressed at being deployed as a wide man.
Svensson was clearly on a high following the 2-0 win over Birmingham, as he said: "I was really pleased with the match, apart from the fact that I didn't score.
"I was a left midfielder, which is not my favourite position, but I got a lot of the ball and it was quite fun."
James Beattie continued his superb scoring run against The Blues, netting a brace, and Svensson feels the praise heaped on the forward is fully deserved.
Svensson added: "It is great, he got so much criticism at the start."
