Carry On Olly
Olof Mellberg has been told to carry on playing ˇV despite ongoing problems with an Achilles tendon injury.
The Swedish World Cup ace has been nursing the injury for some time and has so-far opted to sit out Villaˇ¦s Worthington Cup outings.
But, following a visit to leading Swedish surgeon Mr Hakan Alfredson, the inspirational central defender has been given the all-clear to play against West Brom tomorrow AND face Liverpool in next weekˇ¦s Worthington quarter-final.
Graham Taylor told www.avfc.co.uk: ˇ§The surgeon confirmed that the treatment heˇ¦s getting from us is exactly right and that the treatment should continue in the way it has ever since Olof first told us of his problem.
ˇ§Weˇ¦ve been resting him between matches, but the surgeon has told us that thereˇ¦s no reason for him to miss matches if they come close together.
ˇ§Heˇ¦s assured Olof that if he does play a number of matches in quick succession, thereˇ¦s no danger of inducing more serious damage to his Achilles.
ˇ§His training has been adapted to suit his requirements and the reassurance that Olly has had from one of the top surgeons in this field has been extremely beneficial.ˇ¨
