Goal Duo Eye Derby Glory
Marcus Allback and Oyvind Leonhardsen insist Villa・s foreign legion fully understand the significance of Saturday・s second derby outing of the season.
And the duo, who opened their respective Premiership accounts with goals against Fulham on Saturday, are determined to inspire another three point haul against West Brom at The Hawthorns.
Leonhardsen, whose introduction to the starting line-up has coincided with a four-match unbeaten run, now aims to help Villa erase painful memories of the 3-0 defeat at St Andrews in September.
He said :Of course this is an important game for the supporters, we know that. It・s also important for us. We want to restore some pride after the Birmingham game.
:Every game is important and we aim to continue the recent run, but we know that derby games are extra special for the supporters and we・re determined not to let them down.;
Allback was in the Villa side at St Andrews, but was struggling to find his feet in the Premiership. Now he hopes last weekend・s strike can spark a goal-rush.
He added: :I・d like to think that my goal against Fulham is the first of many in the Premiership. Hopefully I・ll get another chance when we play West Bromwich Albion.
:Everybody is determined to put things right after the last derby game. We let ourselves and the fans down at Birmingham and this is a chance to put it right.
:We know how important this game is and, like every player at the club, I want to be involved on Saturday.;
