Lagerback: Don't get carried away

Sweden's joint-coach Lars Lagerback hailed the team's second half display against Bulgaria but warned about the dangers of getting carried away by the emphatic result.

The Swedes rattled in four goals after the interval to crush Bulgaria 5-0 after Freddie Ljungberg had put the side in front at half time. But during the opening 45 minutes, Sweden were largely outplayed by Bulgaria, something which was duly noted by Lagerback. He admits his players were under the cosh at times during the first half but praised the display in the second period.

"In the first half, Bulgaria gave us some problems in defence," said Lagerback. "They played rather well.

"We had hoped for more from the first half but in the second half, I think we played a marvellous 45 minutes.

"It was almost perfect. We didn't allow Bulgaria any goalscoring chances and we created a lot more, so it was a fantastic second half."

Lagerback also reserved special comment for the impact of Larsson, who produced two sumptuous finishes to kill off the Bulgarians. The coach echoed the striker's sentiments of ensuring Sweden do not get carried away by the convincing nature of their opening result of Euro 2004.

"I could say it's easy to be a coach if you have players like Henrik Larsson," continued Lagerback.

"We have to be a little bit careful with that because as Henrik said - and we said it in the dressing room directly after the match - this is only the first step, don't be carried away."
