Sociedad have proved the surprise-package of the Spanish season, and are currently four points clear of the rest of their Primera rivals.

Mjallby's agent, Anders Wallsten, has revealed that the Basque club have been keeping a close eye on his player for some time.

"It's no secret that Real Sociedad have kept observing Johan for a long while," said Wallsten.

"But will they sign him in January???No, I don't think so. But you never know what can happen next summer."

Mjallby himself was sceptical over the rumours, and admitted he was focused only on trying to overcome his persistent injury problems.

"It (the transfer) can't be possible, I have been injured since August," said the 31-year-old.

"It's typical for me at the moment, precisely when I have recovered from the old injury, I seem to get a new one."
