A groin injury to Andreas Andersson has precipitated Skoog's selection, and the player is delighted to be given a chance at international level.

"I didn't have a clue before Tommy Soderberg (pictured) called me to say I had been selected," Skoog told sportbladet.

"I am happy and proud to be called up.

"It has gone really well for me this year and it feels like a huge bonus to be selected for the national side."

The 28-year-old has been in fine form this year and is hopeful that he can get some playing time.

"I hope to play against the Czech Republic," insisted Skoog. "I am not following the squad out to Tblisi to have a holiday."
