Ljungberg Named Swedish Player of The Year
Freddie Ljungberg has been named as Sweden's Footballer of the Year at an awards gala in Stockholm.
Our 25-year-old midfielder scooped the prestigious award after helping Arsenal to the League and FA Cup 'double' last season.
Ljungberg was an inspiration during the title run-in last Spring, scoring six goals in the final six games of the Premiership season.
He capped a fine campaign with a classic goal in the FA Cup final at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff as the Gunners beat Chelsea 2-0.
Ljungberg was also a member of the Sweden squad which reached the second round of the World Cup in Korea and Japan last summer.
He was named Barclaycard Player of the Season in May and was delighted after pipping Celtic striker Henrik Larsson to the Swedish Player award.
"It's a great honour to win the biggest prize in Swedish football, a line of fantastic players have won this award before me," said Ljungberg.
Freddie has pulled out of the Sweden squad for Wednesday's friendly international against the Czech Republic to recuperate from a minor knee injury.
He sustained the injury during our 3-0 victory against Tottenham at Highbury and is hoping to recover in time for Saturday's Premiership clash at Southampton.
The other winner of the award ceremony,the defender and striker of the year,are Johan Mjallby and Henrik Larsson.And the Keeper of the Year is a young talent boy Andreas Isaksson.Zlatan Ibrahimovic is named the personality of the Year.
