Anders Svensson is hoping to be fit for tomorrow's sell-out clash at home to champions Arsenal but Marian Pahars is a doubt.

The Southampton midfield star picked up a thigh injury playing for Sweden in their 3-3 midweek draw against the Czech Republic in Teplice.

But after treatment yesterday afternoon he was able to train this morning and if there is no reaction he is optimistic of being in contention to face the champions.

But Marian Pahars faces a late fitness test on the ankle injury has been feeling in recent weeks.

Although he played the full 90 minutes for Latvia in their 1-0 win over San Marino in midweek, he reported pain afterwards and will have a check tomorrow. Latvia are now top of their pool.

Michael Svensson also played and is thought to have come through with no problems .
