Olly Plotting Villa Success

Olof Mellberg is determined to add the vital missing ingredient to his Villa career next season ¡V he aims to be challenging for honours.

But the Swede insists Villa must make changes in the summer to ensure there is no repeat of the struggled this term.

Mellberg, who has been one of Villa¡¦s few truly consistent performers this season reflected: ¡§It's obviously very frustrating when we're not where we want to be and we're not where we're supposed to be but I am very happy at the club and very happy in Birmingham.

"It is a great atmosphere in the dressing room, we've got great training facilities and my family are happy here as well.

"It is just Villa fighting for the top positions that is missing, and that's what we've got to aim for next season."

He continued: "We'd have all hoped for more from this season. We thought last season was disappointing but this season has definitely been a disappointment.

"In my opinion we need a change. I'm not in a position to say what kind of changes we need, whether it's players or other kinds of small changes, but we definitely need a change because it is not like we are close to the Champions League positions.

"It's difficult to say what we need to do. I said the same thing before last season, I thought we had a good chance to be up there but we're not and we've got to look at ourselves as well.

"We haven't performed as well as we can individually this season. We've been strong and dominated almost every game at Villa Park but away from home we've been poor.

"We can definitely look at ourselves individuals and see that we haven't performed as we should have."
