Larsson: We were so close

Henrik Larsson today reflected on one of the cruellest weeks either he or his club has known.

Celtic were, in the end, denied a league and UEFA Cup double by just two goals and, having emerged empty-handed from a season which had promised so much, Larsson admits he・s still hurting.

：I have definitely had better weeks than the one that has just gone,； he admitted on icons.com.

：In the end I・m not sure we could have done much more than we did, but it wasn・t to be. We were very close to winning a number of major honours this season, but that doesn・t count for anything in the end.；

That Celtic finished the season without a trophy can, Larsson believes, be attributed to nothing more than bad luck.

：I really think we have not had a lot of luck over the course of the season, and that can often be the difference between winning everything and winning nothing,； he said.

：After losing the UEFA Cup we knew everything was at stake this weekend, but we were always facing a tough task. Rangers had possibly the slightly easier task and had the goal advantage.

：We worked really hard, but they did what they had to do and that was that. You start the season hoping to do the best you can, but you need a lot of luck to achieve all the things you want to.

：We have shown that we are a very good team, we work hard for each other and we will never give up. We just fell short and that is difficult to take for everyone.；

The prolific Swede's current focus is simply on recharging his batteries before returning for the final season of a glorious career in the hoops, and he・s clearly intent on bidding farewell with some silverware.

：At the moment I・m just looking forward to having a break and relaxing,； he said. ：There has been a lot of pressure over the last few weeks and now we can go away and put it behind us.

：Next season will definitely be my last at Celtic and so of course it would be great to leave having won a number of honours. But it・s not really about me, it・s about Celtic Football Club and next season I・ll simply be doing my best for the team.；
