AJAX forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic says that Valencia were a class above them in their Champions League draw on Wednesday night. The Dutch side took a late lead at Mestalla but an even later Angulo strike gave the Spanish champions a point although they did dominate the game.
Swedish star Ibrahimovic acknowledged the skills of the Spaniards saying that they did indeed boss proceedings, and likened the game to his country's World Cup match with Argentina.
"It felt like when we faced Argentina at the World Cup. They were in a class by themselves when it comes to the pace," Ibrahimovic told Sportbladet.
"It's a really good side, the top of the pops."
It was Ibrahimovic himself who gave Ajax the lead just two minutes from the end, and he was delighted to be on target.
"It was real nice, but it felt like there was a long time left, it is the Champions League and then the referee added five minutes.
"It was a bit depressing, we felt it was a bit too much stoppage time.
"But if you check the match, we should be really happy to get a point, although we could have got three.
"The feelings are a bit mixed."
Ibrahimovic says that the Champions League is now his main priority and not the domestic Dutch Eredivisie.
"It's only the Champions League that matters now. I have full respect for the Dutch league, but there is a tremendous difference.
"We need these matches, they are played in an entirely different pace. Ajax get better for every game we play."
