Hedman Set to Keep His Place

Magnus Hedman looks set to keep his place between the sticks for Sunday's visit of Dunfermline after Rab Douglas has been sidelined with a slight calf injury.

The Scotland internationalist picked up the injury in the warm-up ahead of the 4-2 win over Hearts on Boxing Day, and it looks unlikely that he will recover in time for Sunday's game.

That would give Hedman the chance to play at least two consecutive games, something that he has been unable to do since arriving this summer from Coventry.

Given that injury has disrupted his season he has an element of sympathy for his fellow keeper Douglas, but nevertheless he is eager to prove what he is capable of to the Celtic support.

"It would be excellent if I could get a little run before the winter break," he said. "To be honest, the break isn't coming at a good time for me because I have already been out for so long, but it will maybe be good for me to recharge my batteries and get all the frustration about the injury and the last few months out of my system.

"It is vital for me to get a run in the team because I have been out for such a long time. I was disappointed for Rab that he picked up the injury on Thursday because I know how frustrating it is, and it isn't the same when you win your place because of an injury to someone else.

"However, it is important to me to play and it would be nice to be involved in the games between now and the trip to Florida.

"There is only a point between ourselves and Rangers now at the top of the table and we know that we need to take six points out of six from the games against Dunfermline and Aberdeen." 1
