Roma make Zlatan bid

Ajax are considering an offer from Roma for Sweden international Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The angular striker has repeatedly been linked with a move to Serie A and refuted reports he had agreed a pre-contract with Juventus earlier this month.

Roma have now nipped in ahead of their Italian rivals after conceding defeat in their bid to sign Parma hot shot Alberto Gilardino. Ibrahimovic's agent Mino Raiola has revealed he has been instructed by Roma to act on their behalf in the negotiations with Ajax.

Raiola admits the Dutch champions are now weighing up Roma's offer, which is believed to be in the region of £á14 million. Ajax are thought to be reluctant to part with Ibrahimovic for less than £á18 million, with Raiola conceding time is running out for the forward to leave the Amsterdam ArenA.

"Roma have charged me with the task of making Ajax an offer for Ibrahimovic," Raiola told Corriere dello Sport.

"And it's an important offer, they are evaluating it.

"We will see what will happen. It's also a matter of time.

"There are five days until the transfer window ends and this certainly can't help the negotiations.

"Ibrahimovic waits for news. Certainly, he's ready to join Roma but everything is up to Ajax." 1
