T616 convert T610 with GSM900?

I see quite a lot of mobile phone forum that people claimed they can convert their T616 to T610 with software changes only. After converting to T610, they can have a T616 with GSM900, GSM1800 and GSM1900 tri-bands

My friend Michael has a T616 and also, the operator in where I live have no GSM1800 but GSM900 only, so lets find out the true .......

Before Conversion:

T616, Software version = R1B027

With GSM850, GSM 1800 & GSM1900, so I don't get any network!

After Conversion:

T610, Software version = R4C003 (Hong Kong)

It shows GSM900, GSM1800 & GSM1900, but in fact, it does not work with GSM900, so I get "SOS Call Only"!

Also, in network search, you can't find my operator "CSL" too!

Conclusion

Even a T616 can convert to a T610, but only in terms of outlook only! The networks will not change from GSM850 to GSM900 without hardware modification!
