Korindo Aikido

Korindo Aikido was founded by Master Hirai Minoru (1903-1998). Its uniqueness is the emphasis on combining Taisabaki (a set of basic movements created by Master Hirai), Kata (pre-arranged movements), and En Randori (free applications). In practising Korindo Aikido, we incorporate Koryu Kata (traditional schools of martial arts). The practice of weapons, such as Japanese swords, jo (4-foot staff), bo (6-foot staff), naginata (halberd) and others, forms an integral part of our training. It is Master Hirai's insight that Korindo Aikido training should enable the practitioner to be conversant with unarmed combat and the use of various forms of weapons.

Outside Japan, Korindo Aikido dojos are only found in Mexico, Israel, Germany and Hong Kong.
