More About my Studies:
Speech and Hearing Science ( 言語及聽覺科學 ) is a rather new discipline in Hong Kong ( about 10 years on history). Apart from HKU, only universities at Japan and Singapore have similar curriculum in Asia. The aim of the curriculum is to train a person to be a professional in speech threapy in order to help people in needed. In Hong Kong, speech therapists usually practice at hopital and special schools to help people with speech and language difficulties, for example, autism children, elderly with stroke.
Our curriculum adopted a brand new design, Problem Based Learning (PBL 問題為本學習). We have to find learning issues from a specific problem assigned by the supervisor so that we can learn things actively, instead of spoon-feeding learning. Besides, lectures on some difficult knowledge are still remained.
Clinical Practice 臨床實習 is also one of the special features, we start practice since year II in clinic with supervision. That means we can relate our paper-knowledage into actual problem.
