Matrices 51, HKEBA-EXEC 33 Second Half fury downed HKEBA-EXEC What the Matrices couldn't achieve regularly last season, they did it in a half today. The matrices scored 34 second half points after trailing by 2 in the first half as they defeated the HKEBA-EXEC 51:33 in Game 2 of the HKMBL. Justin Wong, coming off a 9 point effort in Game 1, had a superb all-round game with 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. His fellow Matrices veteran Gabriel Kwong, who didn't start due to his ankle injury, also contributed 14 points and 5 assists. "I have been waiting for a game like this for two seasons, " said Justin, who had two unproductive seasons. "I promised myself I was gonna break out this season. Now I have proven myself." Justin scored only 4 points throughout the entire last season. "You guys better watch out! The Matrices' Peja has finally awaken!" Justin joked. Justin was all fired up right from the beginning, hitting a long jumper in the opening seconds of the game. The HKEBA-EXEC responded with a banked three pointer. Justin then scored again on a crazy finger roll off the glass. Later in the first quarter, he hit another jumper from just inside the three point line. He scored 6 of the team's 7 points and the Matrices led 7:5 after one quarter. The second quarter began with a steal and fastbreak by Kenneth Siu, who missed Game 1 due to personal reason. He scored 7 points on 3 of 8 shooting and had 4 steals in his debut of the season. The HKEBA-EXEC wasn't going to give up that easily. They fought hard in the second quarter and dictated the game flow. No. 86 of the HKEBA-EXEC made a three pointer to put his team ahead 14:13 midway in the second quarter. Gabriel made 1-2 from the line to tie it at 14:14. The HKEBA-EXEC scored in the paint in the next possession to take the lead again at 16:14. Then Gabriel made a mid-range jumper to tie the game again at 16:16. The hot shooting No.86 of the HKEBA-EXEC made another three pointer to end the second quarter, with the HKEBA-EXEC leading 19:17. Seeing his team trailing at the break, coach Chung, who replaced the absent coach Tung for the Matrices, made several changes to the line-up. Coach Chung started the second half with Gabriel and Senne Sung. This line-up worked wonder as Gabriel scored the first 4-points of the team and tied the game at 21:21. The Matrices then went on a 7-0 run, starting from a 3 pointer by Justin. The quarter ended with the Matrices heading 30:24. In the fourth quarter, the Matrices totally dominated. Daniel scored on a nice double-pump layup off a pass from Justin to open the quarter. Justin then hit back-to-back jumpers to put the Matrices ahead 36:27. The fatigued HKEBA-EXEC could only watch the gap getting bigger as hot shooting continued for the Matrices. Kenneth, Gabriel, and Wong Ching Hei each hit a long jumper to expand the lead to 48:33. Anthony Shiu, who saw limited minutes this game, put an end to the game by banking in a three pointer, his only basket in the game. The final result was Matrices 51, HKEBA-EXEC 33. Coach Chung thought the team could have done better, " we should have won by over 20 points in this game. We are a younger team and has complete advantage over them on rebounding. Our perimeter shooters shouldn't have hesitated. Just shoot the ball. You know the rebound would be there. " An excellent player himself, Coach Chung starts at PG for the Hong Kong A2 league team, Sing Dao. "If I were playing in this game, I would have scored over 40 points all by myself." coach Chung added.
